Seed planting has begun

24 02 2008

IMG_0001Yeah! It’s that time again in the house.  Dirt is flying and seeds are being jammed down into starting pots.  The garage is still too cold to put the seedlings out there so my wife gracious allowed me to bring the seed starting indoors.  The girls have agreed to check them every day and let me know when they can see a little plant.  Whew…one less thing for me to do

Planting dates and expected harvests and all that jazz is over in the Planting Diary, but today we planted:

  • 2 Beefsteak Tomatoes
  • 2 Yellow Cherry Tomatoes
  • 2 Red Cherry Tomatoes
  • 4 Cabbage
  • 2 Cauliflower

child labor - I love it and wish I had it! Do you start any annuals indoors or just veggies?

so far I’ve only done veggies and flowers. If they are annual it’s only by accident/luck :)

Well you are one week ahead of me. Just left the Feb. meeting of the Mens Garden club of Villa Park. Our greenhouse is in full force but I plan to start my hot pepper plants this weekend. I just finished my light frame for grow lights once the seedlings sprout and have seperated the seeds but have not planted yet. I am jelous you started so early. Good luck this year.

Great site! My wife and I are in Evanston and we just started Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage and Broccoli. It sure feels good to see those little green sprouts during this never-ending winter!
