What I’ve learned so far

In the last 35+ years I’ve learned several things about the world. Some of them I’ve seen described by others and by experience I find them to be true. Thus, these are not all my original ideas or wording…but they are soo true.
  • There is a very fine line between “hobby” and “mental illness”
  • You should not confuse your career with your life
  • Guns are always loaded, not pretend they are, they always are
  • You will never find anybody who can give a justifiable answer for why we have daylight savings
  • Everybody thinks they are an above average driver, when most are far far below
  • A person who is nice to you, but not others, is not a nice person
  • Never under estimate a large group of stupid people
  • Never under estimate a small group of stupid people
  • When it’s one stupid person, remove them from the equation
  • There’s a very fine line between “clever” and “stupid”, and more often then not when it’s clever…you’re wrong
  • Engineers engineer, managers manage, when one does the job of the other disaster will happen
  • In one word, the reason most companies/groups/teams/etc fail: committees
  • The innocence of childhood is the most beautiful thing in the world, and sometimes the funniest
  • No matter how many times you say it, your female friend will never believe you think she’s beautiful
  • There are very few things that must be done immediately, but everyone thinks their thing is that thing when they ask you to do it
  • Common sense is rarely common
  • When it’s not your money, money doesn’t mater
  • If you’re going to do something, jump in with two feet, or don’t do it at all
  • If you are going to complain, do something about it, or don’t complain when nothing changes
  • Just because you can (ability), doesn’t mean you should
  • Just because you should, doesn’t mean you can (ability)
  • That sign that says “do not”…yes, it does apply to you
  • Criminals do not obey laws, that’s why they are called criminals
  • A college education means nothing, except to the hiring manager (sorry mom)
  • As long as it’s not illegal, do it first and ask questions later
  • Learn from others, you aren’t the first person to do anything

After reading the above list my wife says I’m a cynic, but I prefer to consider myself a pessimistic realist. The world needs more pessimistic realist, it counter balances the optimistic morons that believe giving a hug means you won’t get punched. Ooh found another one…

  • Mean people suck, no amount of being nice will change that

Reason #127 why we are so much alike…I call myself a pessimistic realist too (Ryan hates that)…

instead of making these lists….go out and play with your kids….focus on the innocence of childhood you like and enjoy,,,………in ten years the girls may not want to talk to you……
