2009 – Wheaton Native Illinois Plant Sale

Wheaton has announced their Native Plant Sale.

Mark your calendar for the Native Illinois Plant Sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 25. The sale – which is sponsored by the Environmental Improvement Commission, the City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Park District – will be at the Wheaton Public Works Building, 821 W. Liberty Drive (across from the Wheaton Police Station).

Attendees will find trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers native to this region. Native plants are beneficial to the environment because they do not require irrigation or pesticides, they require less maintenance than non-native species and they provide habitats for native wildlife.

Free wood chips will be available (bring your own container), and rain barrels will be for sale. For information about which plants are available, visit theWheaton Park District website.
