Storm Chase Vacation 2009 - Day 2

8:00am – Wake up to find CoD has had a major data outage and there’s no weather data to review. Made a call out to Gil for help since I can’t find anything wrong with weather or climate servers. Gil can’t find anything either so calls are made to CoD IT.

9:30am – In the vans and heading to Ole’s in Paxton for lunch. Looks like an eastern CO/western NE play today.

01:30pm – lunch over. Buffalo burgers for most of the group. Heading to Julesburg, CO to play the boundary.

02:00pm – Paul finished the new surface maps and he thinks a dryline is setting up west of Scottsbluff, NE so that’s the new target.

4:30pm – DQ break in Scottsbluff (next to lingerie and ‘other’ shop…woohooo!) New target is Torrington, WY

5:00pm – Toes across WY border and a quick u-turn to head south. no data signal, but plenty of prairie dogs

5:30pm – Stopped top of a rise for pictures. Storms are starting to pop but which ones will break loose?

6:15pm – Chase is on! Hillsdale, WY. Staying the night in Greeley, CO

7:30pm – Took 1-2″ hail and had to reverse down the road. Beautiful storm.

9:00pm – At the hotel in Greeley, looking for a place to eat.
