2009 In review
- Purchased a worm bin in early March and got it going. Still going strong in the garage.
- Spring started on March 15th for us with a trip to Scooby’s
- Went to the Wheaton Native Illinois Plant sale, like we do every year. Need to get in line no later than 7:30am.
- Girls built a fairy garden
- I purchased and then returned a push mower. They don’t work. *sigh*
- Went to the Scottish Highland Games, not garden related but you should go anyway!
- Went storm chasing, not garden related either but it’s fun none the less
- Found possibly the best “local food” restaurant in all of Chicago
- Went blueberry picking in Michigan
- Went raspberry picking in Illinois
- Perfectly on time first frost for Chicago. Dang it! So much for global warming.
- Went Apple picking Wisconsin
2010 Plans
- Take a beekeeping class. Already signed up and ready to go!
- Do a better job of growing tomatoes on my deck
- Go camping at Starved Rock (June 4-6)
- Go on a vacation with just the wife, even a short one
- Go to the Scottish Highland Games
- Go storm chasing..a few times…one can hope
- Go blueberry picking in Michigan (middle of August)
- Go raspberry picking in Illinois (1st or 2nd weekend in September)
- Go apple picking in Wisconsin (1st or 2nd weekend in October)
- Buy a used Jeep Wrangler…one can hope










Where are you taking your beekeeping class? In the city or in the suburbs?
The Wheaton Park District offers a class on Wednesday evenings from January 27 to March 17 2010 at the Wheaton North High School at Gary Avenue and Geneva Rd. The class meets from 7:30 to 9:30. Further information is available at http://www.wheatonparkdistrict.com or 630-510-5132. Registration for Wheaton area residents begins November 17 and non residents are eligible to register after December 8. Only on line registration is available for this class.
