Full Size Day 0 Pictures
Day one...well actually day Zero but who's counting?

I drove up to Chicago from Cincinnati a half day early to get some of my gear installed.

A mobile hotspot using a Kyocera KR1 802.11 to Cell phone bridge was installed in van one and was an instant success. Three laptops all hitting the internet at once.

This also allowed us to test out using a remote control program so anyone with a laptop in Van 1 or Van 2 (as long as it's within WIFI range on the highway) to view Paul's chase computer when he's doing model analysis and now-casting.

Haven't tried it out operationally yet, but ground testing shows that it's doable.

We also raided my car for the anemometer to throw on top of the van. It's more a toy than anything.
This is a picture of the satellite tracker. It's worked great so far. Much better than my GPS/Internet solution for long haul chases where you want others to see where you are. The private website given to family/friends of the chasers on the trip has been very well received. It has a real-time google map with current position (from the satellite tracker) and emergency contact phone numbers.
