Full Size Day 3 Pictures

Total Miles Today: 110

No chasing planned for tomorrow..or is it today now?...mostly tourism stuff.

Blog updates will probably not happen until late in the evening.

Morning briefing at 1100AM. South West OK and northern Texas border on monday look okay on the ETA model but probably night based storms. We will be moving to Oklahoma City/Norman, OK tomorrow to reposition for possible storms on tuesday.

Going to try and go to the SPC for a quick tour.

Tuesday will be the first "real" severe weather day potential but still it does not look great. Maybe some dryline action on Wed/Thur but the models are having a tough time with the odd weather patterns of the last few days.

Friday looks to be back into Texas and far south if we want to see anything. But long term forecasts right now..or really anytime..are just not specific enough.

Plans for today:
Light lunch and some softball until around 3 or 4pm. Then head out to the Forth Worth Stockyards for some shopping and tourism. Then a steak dinner at the Cattlemans.

Today went exactly as planned, except for Kenny loosing his wallet. We suspect it happened during our softball game. Not good.

We stopped for lunch at UFO's...a brew house with over 200 different kinds of beers. I didn't see anybody try one but it was good food none the less. I was hoping we'd head back there tonight to try one of their imported hard ciders but no luck.

As for weather...not much to say other than Monday and Tuesday look much better for chasing than they did this morning. Still not great chances but things are pulling together for at least something to look at.

No night briefing today since Paul/Matt had not seen the weather data before everyone went off to bed, but my own quick look at the forecast data says everything is still the same as this morning except a higher probability.

Everyone was in their hotel room by 1000PM with Paul and Kent having to head over to the Van dealership around 0630AM to see if we can get Van 2 fixed before heading to Oklahoma.

Folks sitting around the breakfast area of the hotel getting the morning weather briefing. No wait..that's the weather channel...nevermind...it's just background noise. An occasional snide remark is thrown at the TV while we wait for Paul and Matt to tell us what bad news they have today.
This is what happens when you leave your camera unattended. Matt leaves you a present
Softball game to kill the time waiting for storms to fire. One of the most beautiful days I've seen in a long time. Great weather...unfortunately.

I don't know what rules Paul's plays by but somehow we ended up with a tie at the end of the game. I suspect the games always end in a tie.
After lunch and the softball we head to the Stockyards in Fort Worth, TX

We arrive just in time for the main tourist attraction of pushing a "herd", and I use that term loosely, of cattle that looked like they had walked the streets 1 million times before down the main street. Best part about the whole thing was the long horns. When they say "long" they mean long!

Shortly there after everyone breaks up into small groups and heads off to do whatever they want with directions from Paul to be at the Cattlemans for dinner at 6:15PM.
Amy and Ashley check out the motorcycles at the local hang out
Group photo!!!
Paul and I go boot hunting. Paul already has permission from his wife to buy boots...I do not.

While Paul is trying on some boots, which he eventually purchased, I'm checking out the boot vault where the shoes are $700 and up. They take their boots very seriously here.

Paul goes for a pair of Tony Lamma Ostrich boots that are very nice and I decide it would best if I return home to a happy wife, instead of one shaking her head.
The crew meets up as requested just around the corner from the Cattlemans. Paul and I have already made reservations and checked out Billy Bob's honkey tonk (western bar)...the worlds largest. I have to agree..it's one VERY large place, and Paul says they pack in several thousand during concerts. They even have a small bull riding arena for professional bull riding.
Cattleman's for dinner. Plenty of steak and ribs for everyone. I have to admit it was very good. Several of us split a very good bottle of Shiraz wine from Australia. Even with the wine, tax and tip the bill is only about $35 a person. Reasonable price for what some would argue is one of the top 5 steak places in the United States.
