Planting Diary
Notes for 2009
- Need more pea plants this year. (idea) Plant 12 inches apart down the entire length of the potatoe garden on the south side of the house. Wait a month and plant in between the earlier pea plants so they are now 6 inches apart. Backfill with any that have died from earlier planting.
- Grow 4 rows of corn on the south side of the house, outside the potatoe garden. Buy two bails of straw. One for the potatoes and one to mulch the corn.
- Mernards has potatoe seed stock if you wait. Try russet potatoes next year for Sierra.
- Cover all brassica and cabbage plants with bug netting. 100% no questions!
- Plant half as much lettuce as last year. Try and find a “crunchy” variety.
- Need to plant twice as many broccoli as last year. 10 to 15 plants if you can find the room
